Get to Know Cody
Meet Cody, co-host of ‘JabberWonkies,’ a San Diego enthusiast and experienced podcaster bringing genuine conversations, local adventures, and a passion for continuous learning to every episode.
Cody is a passionate San Diego enthusiast and experienced podcaster who brings an authentic and engaging voice to “JabberWonkies.” With a love for exploring his city, discussing important issues, and having fun along the way, Cody adds a unique energy to the podcast alongside his partner, Justin.
Finding His Voice: Cody’s Journey
Cody has spent years co-hosting the successful podcast “That’s a Mouthful,” where he explored LGBTQ+ issues with his good friend Matt. Alongside the podcast, Cody also writes the blog “Don’t Say Macbeth,” reviewing dramatic theater and musicals across Southern California, as well as his self-titled personal blog. Over time, Cody developed a confident voice, unafraid to speak his mind and tackle important topics, whether fun, mundane, or controversial. “I’ve really grown in my way of talking about topics and not shying away from them,” Cody says. His experience has taught him that staying true to yourself is the key to creating genuine, engaging content.

With “JabberWonkies,” Cody is excited to expand the range of subjects he explores. “I think there’s going to be that genuine fun reaction to stories or topics that you might not get from a lot of other podcasts,” Cody explains. By partnering with Justin, he aims to bring the natural conversations they have every day to their listeners—whether it’s about current events, local experiences, or geeky interests.
The Joy of San Diego
Cody’s love for San Diego is evident in everything he does. From exploring farmers markets to discovering hidden coffee shops and enjoying the city’s diverse food scene, he’s always eager to share his favorite spots. “I love the farmers market—so many items, produce, and fun little things to see. There are so many different farmers markets, and they all have different vibes, which I think is a lot of fun,” Cody says. His passion for local exploration is a big part of what makes “JabberWonkies” unique and special.
Cody also has a deep appreciation for the city’s coffee culture. “There are so many great coffee shops, and it’s fun finding those unique spots where you can relax, get your coffee, and maybe read a book.” Whether it’s brunch, lunch, or dinner, Cody loves discovering all that San Diego has to offer and sharing those experiences with listeners.
Bringing Genuine Conversations to the Mic
For Cody, “JabberWonkies” is all about having real, authentic conversations—whether those are about politics, pop culture, or everyday life. “At any given moment, Justin and I could be gabbing about politics and then move on to debate what’s really going on in the newest Marvel show,” he says. The podcast is an extension of their daily lives, filled with humor, curiosity, and the natural flow of conversation.
With an election on the horizon, Cody is particularly excited to dive into the big topics. “Obviously, that’s super important, and I have lots of thoughts on that,” he notes. But beyond the serious discussions, Cody values the opportunity to explore a wide range of subjects that he and Justin are passionate about—and to share those insights with their listeners.
Encouraging Learning and Connection
If there’s one thing Cody hopes listeners take away from “JabberWonkies,” it’s the importance of continuous learning and staying curious. “So many people think that once school is over, there’s no more learning, but I believe you should always be learning, always reading, always educating yourself on a daily basis,” Cody emphasizes. Whether it’s learning about new places in San Diego or gaining insight into a topic they might not have been interested in before, Cody believes in the power of education and the joy it brings.
Above all, Cody wants listeners to feel connected to both him and Justin. “I hope people get an education on topics they might not fully be interested in, but it’s always good to be educated,” he says. “And I hope they enjoy our banter and feel a genuine connection with us.” For Cody, “JabberWonkies” is a chance to bring joy, laughter, and a sense of community to every episode.
