Get to Know Justin

Meet Justin, co-host of ‘JabberWonkies,’ a recovering, former content creator who blends tech geekery, playful storytelling, and genuine conversations to bring lighthearted fun and insightful discussions.

Justin is a seasoned blogger, content creator, and tech enthusiast who brings years of experience and passion to “JabberWonkies.” From blogging about his personal life in high school to producing tech reviews and now embracing the fun side of podcasting again, Justin’s journey is one of evolution and returning to his roots.

From Blogging to Tech Reviews

Justin’s content creation journey began in high school, where he started blogging about his life, which later grew into a semi-popular blog, “It’s Just Justin,” during his college years. At first, it was all about personal stories and reflections, but as he matured, he pivoted towards more in-depth tech writing and reviews.

“I loved doing it, but writing about technology and doing real reviews took a lot of energy and resources,” Justin recalls. His dream was to eventually contribute to major tech outlets like Engadget, Gizmodo, or The Verge, but the workload of detailed, researched content grew tiring, especially as his career began demanding more of his time.

Photographer’s Journey

Justin’s passion for photography began at a young age, influenced by his father, two uncles, and grandmother, all of whom were professional photographers. Starting with a Nikon N8008s, he honed his skills working on his school newspaper and yearbook, eventually becoming the first digital photographer at the University of Missouri’s student-run paper, The Maneater. His journey evolved from news-style photos to commercial work for publications like Culinary Trends magazine and The Wall Street Journal.

Later, Justin found his true calling in fine art photography, capturing landscapes and architecture with a “less is more” approach. Inspired by iconic photographers like Gregory Crewdson and Annie Leibovitz, Justin strives to elevate the mundane into something remarkable. Today, his Nikon D850 and Fuji X100V are always by his side, continuing a lifelong passion that has shaped his creative endeavors. To explore more of Justin’s work, visit his photography website.

A Return to Personality-Driven Content

With “JabberWonkies,” Justin is excited to return to what originally drew him into content creation: fun, personality-driven storytelling. “I want to be joyful and share a good time with folks,” Justin says. The podcast is a mix of both his nerdy passions—like AI, home automation, and tech geekery—and the more casual, everyday conversations that keep things light and entertaining. For Justin, “JabberWonkies” is an opportunity to blend the best of both worlds: sharing his love for technology and culture in a way that’s relaxed, spontaneous, and enjoyable.

Embracing the Podcasting Evolution

Justin has always been fascinated by the technology behind content creation, and today’s tools have amazed him. “I used to think the democratization of media had peaked about ten years ago, but I was wrong,” he says. Setting up the “JabberWonkies” website and podcast showed him just how far things have come—from the days of whispering into a laptop mic with background noise to now having powerful, user-friendly tools at his fingertips.

Justin’s love for exploring the latest tech, including the advancements in podcasting gear, fuels his excitement for the podcast. “You can now pick up everything you need for a professional-sounding podcast at a fraction of the cost,” he notes. And that ease of access means that Justin and Cody can focus on what they love most—having great conversations without worrying about the complexities of production.

The Joy of Partnering with Cody

One of the best parts of “JabberWonkies” for Justin is having Cody as his co-host. “It’s nice to be doing it with my partner Cody. He already has a successful podcast, ‘That’s a Mouthful,’ so for once, I don’t have to be in the driver’s seat,” Justin admits. Unlike his previous experiences, where he often took on all the production responsibilities, Justin now gets to share the load—and learn from Cody, who has been blogging and podcasting consistently over the years.

Justin appreciates how aligned he and Cody are in their passions, making it easy to collaborate and share their interests. Whether it’s talking about urban farming, reviewing coffee shops, or diving into their shared geeky pursuits, Justin feels this partnership brings out the best in both of them. “I’m hoping Cody can take the reins at least in the start as I get my blogging/podcasting sea legs back,” Justin adds.

What Justin Hopes to Bring to Listeners

“JabberWonkies” is a blend of genuine conversation, quirky banter, and thought-provoking topics, all presented in an approachable way. While Justin and Cody plan to discuss important subjects, such as politics, Justin also wants listeners to remember the importance of balance. “Life is already so serious,” Justin explains. “We want to spread hope and joy while reminding people that there’s always more to learn and enjoy in life.”

For Justin, “JabberWonkies” is not just about sharing information—it’s about creating moments of joy, encouraging continuous learning, and reminding everyone to find delight even in the midst of life’s challenges. It’s a space to be yourself, be curious, and enjoy the ride, and Justin is ready to take listeners along for every twist and turn.
